Really neat place! The seafood chowder was good, but the lobster mac and cheese was delicious! I would definitely recommend it. We also had the Ruben sandwich, which tasted good, but it was on a Pretzel bun and not salted. Staff was friendly and helpful!

This place is so freakin’ neat! It’s in a very cozy part of town surrounded by history. The staff were so very accommodating for my baby nephew and incredibly hospitable. The food and drinks are AMAZING. They definitely put some research into nailing the colonial fair.

I started with the Cucumber Spring Water for a cocktail which was so refreshing. My brother had the Shepard’s pie which was H.U.G.E. and delicious. I had the fish and chips. I can see why it ranked in the top three of Delaware. So good!

Just come here! The atmosphere, the staff, and the food are incredibly worth it.

Food is so good and fresh; taste homemade and simply delicious! Customer service is very attentive and friendly; large – I mean LARGE-selection of beer and ale choices!!!!! They have specials ! Most important is the pricing…. Incredibly competitive!!!

Love this place …. It’s been around for awhile…. Read up its history …. Ambiance is friendly…loved my Swedish meatloaf but also had a bite of the prime rib and hamburger dishes!!!! Fabulous…. Your palate will be in heaven!

Charming tavern in Historic NewCastle with genuine old-time atmosphere. We enjoyed the crab pot pie for lunch— we shared one, it was a good sized serving and pretty tasty! The sweet potato fries were delicious, and the servers were very nice and attentive. We’ll be back again I’m sure.

This was a cute restaurant located in the historical downtown area. We stopped in here while traveling as we noticed it had good reviews. The atmosphere was very neat. The server was great. I ordered a burger and it came out completely burnt. I ordered another menu item and it was much better. We also ordered meatloaf and it was mediocre, lacking flavor. Overall it was a decent place to eat at.

I visited Jessop’s on a recommendation from another beer connoisseur and was not disappointed. The draft beer list was excellent, mostly Belgian beers with a few UK, German, and American crafts thrown in. They have a full bar, and plenty of cider and wine offerings for anyone who may not like beer. My wife liked the bloody mary, which was nice and spicy.

The bar is not that large, so try to time your visit or get a reservation for a dining table. New Castle has very few restaurants, so it can get busy, especially on a nice weekend.
We did not eat here, so this review is strictly based on the beer selection and bar service- both of which were excellent.
The ambiance is great, feels like stepping back in time. The bar is very social and the bartender Jess was very welcoming and friendly.
If you like beer, make sure Jessup’s Tavern is on your list to visit!
